Members of the California African American Genealogical Society conducts meetings and workshops the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Los Angeles Family History Library (LAFHL).
Most Thursday afternoons there are experts who can help you get started on your research.

Look for the meetings and workshops and other classes such as "Red, White and Black" by Charles Meigs on the LAFHL Class Schedule. See the LAFHL Consultants and Teachers page for the names and days that the experts are available. There is a large collection of African American genealogy books in the bookcase directly outside the Classroom at the LAFHL. See the Main (Microfiche) - Floor Plan link below.
